How does the SmileMate app work?

Healthcare Professionals can Scan their patients using the SM App on a smartphone, the DM ScanBox and a DM Cheek Retractor.

Healthcare Professionals are required to log in, using their Dashboard credentials.

If the Healthcare Professional’s Dashboard has been customized (logo and color), the customizations are reflected on the SM App after login.

Once signed in, the patients are required to enter their first name, last name, email address and accept the Patient Informed Consent Form. They have the option to watch a tutorial video.

Once they start a Scan, a video shows them how to insert the DM Cheek Retractors and set the DM ScanBox.

Patients are required to follow the instructions from the app and take three video shots of their teeth:

  • mouth closed, showing teeth on both sides

  • mouth slightly opened, showing teeth on both sides

  • mouth wide open, showing the top and bottom teeth

Each video can be reviewed and validated by the Healthcare Professional before sending the photos for analysis. If the Healthcare Professional is unsatisfied with the quality of photos taken during one or several video shots, they can be retaken.

Once the three video shots are validated, the photos are automatically uploaded to the Scan Analysis Platform for analysis.
