Activating the video consultation functionality

To integrate a video consultation functionality, go to Virtual Consultation > Video consultation.

For the initial setup, it is necessary to activate it by sliding the toggle 'Start a video consultation with your patients' to 'on' and clicking on ‘Save’.

It is possible to choose between using the in-built video consultation software or an external video consultation system.

Implementing the in-built video consultation

Healthcare Professionals can provide a teleconsultation session thanks to integration with daily.co – a third-party HIPAA-compliant telemedicine solution.

If Healthcare Professionals choose to use the in-built Video Consultation system, they are provided with:

  • The video call link which they can share it with their patients to invite them into their video call

  • The “Start” button to start a video call with their patients

A video consultation can also be started from any patient card.

Using an external video consultation solution

If Healthcare Professionals wish to use their own video consultation provider, they will have to select 'I want to use my own video consultation system'. They will need to enter the waiting room link (this is the link that will be sent to the patient to connect to the video consultation).

The connection page is optional, if integrated it provides a quick link to start a video consultation from any patient card.

Inviting patients to a video consultation

There are two options:

  • Invite patients when sharing the Screening Report

When sharing a Screening Report, activate the toggle: Include a video consultation button in the email.

  • Invite patients directly

Copy the video consultation URL displayed on the video consultation page and send it to the patient before starting a video consultation.

Starting a video call with patients

After sharing the URL link with their patient as described above, the Healthcare Professional can start a video call by either:

  • Going to the video consultation. tab and click on “Start”

  • Going onto the patient card and click “Start a video consultation”

They will be redirected to a new tab in their browser with the video consultation opened. They need to make sure their camera and microphone are turned on.

If using the daily.co solution, the Healthcare Professional will be notified when the patient has connected and is requesting a video call. They must click ‘accept’ to start the video call.
